#CRAWFORDDAY TWITTER STORM
When: August 5th 12-2pm CST/ 1-3pmEST/ 10am-12pm PST
until September 5th.
On August 5, 2014, A young man by the name of John Crawford picked up an un-packaged BB/pellet air rifle inside the store’s sporting goods section and continued shopping in the store. Another customer, Ronald Ritchie, called 911. According to Ritchie at the time, Crawford was pointing the gun at people and at children walking by, and messing with the gun. Ronald Ritchie has since recanted, stating “At no point did he shoulder the rifle and point it at somebody”. Two officers of the Beavercreek Police arrived at the Walmart shortly after their dispatcher informed them of a “subject with a gun” in the pet supplies area of the store and Crawford was shot. His last words were, “It’s not real!”
Police contend that John ignored their commands but the surviellance video shows that John was on his cell phone at the time with his back turned to the officers. He was not given any time to respond to verbal commands.
Immediately following the shooting police aggressively questioned Crawford’s girlfriend, Tasha Thomas*, threatening her with jail time. The interrogation caused her to sob uncontrollably, with hostile questions suggesting she was drunk or on drugs when she stated that Crawford did not enter the store with a gun. She was not yet aware of Crawford’s death at the time of the interrogation.
Ritchie has never apologized for lying nor offered condolences to the Crawford family. Walmart CEO Douglas McMillon has yet to offer condolences to the family or apologize for the loss of John’s life in one of his stores, where John Crawford was shopping.
This August, one year later we are still seeking justice. The Justice Department is still conducting its own investigation. It is time to apply pressure!
* Tasha Thomas was killed in a car crash earlier this year. John and Tasha’s child has been left without a mother and a father.
Below are all the tools you need to join the twitter storm beginning on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Tweet @Walmart @Obama @DoJ and any celebrities or politicians.

Police gas sleeping migrants!
At 7:30 in the morning on July 29th there was a traffic jam on the A16 leading up to the port. This traffic jam backed up lorries all the way to where the major security fence along the road finishes right next to the migrant camp. One guy from the camp went up to the fence to see what was happening and was immediately sprayed by the CRS cops on the top of the hill. This action, in and of itself, was entirely disproportionate and shows that the police here treat the people as insects, but what they did next was entirely beyond reason and in no way related to stopping people from making it to the motorway. It was a sadistic attack with potentially deadly consequences.
The people in the jungle below shouted and protested at the police’s action and the CRS retaliated by shooting two canisters of CS…

Announcing the Coalition for an INDEPENDENT Citizen’s Review Board on Police Practices in San Diego
Officially Announcing the Coalition for an INDEPENDENT Citizen’s Review Board on Police Practices in San Diego
In the spirit of Ferguson and the national call to reform police practices, a coalition of Black Student Justice Coalition, Women Occupy – San Diego, United Against Police Terror – San Diego, and others: is calling upon the San Diego City Council for an independent San Diego Citizens Review Board on Police Practices. We have a real chance of getting an independent Community Review Board with subpoena powers.
Reforming the CRB will provide SD with a truly effective Review Board on Police Practices.
Our coalition recommends that the City Counsel adopt the model of the San Diego County Law Enforcement Review Board (CLERB), empowered by the voters in 1990 by passing Proposition A.
Reforms that are essential to the effective functioning of civilian and community oversight of the SDPD include:
1. Independent investigators and subpoena power, as provided to the San Diego County Law Enforcement Review Board by the voters in 1990 (Proposition A).
2. Intake, tracking and review of all complaints filed is done by the CRB rather than by SDPD Internal Affairs, also as modeled by the San Diego County Law Enforcement Review Board approved by the voters in 1990.
3. Change the name from “Citizens Review Board” to “COMMUNITY Review Board”.
4. Have the Members of this Community Review Board on Police Practices appointed by the representatives elected by the 9 City Council Districts – 2 per District.
Plus 1 appointee by the Mayor.
This reform would provide the residents of San Diego County with a consistent civilian review process for law enforcement throughout much of the County, since the CLERB has jurisdiction over the 9 cities that contract with the County Sheriff for law enforcement, as well as the unincorporated County, jails, and probation/parole services.
